If you just want a cup of coffee, really any place is fine. But if you want a cup of coffee in a cozy and warm environment, Picasso’s Coffee House on Historic Main Street St. Charles is the place to be.
Picasso’s does not only serve delicious hot or frozen, regular or flavored coffee in all its varieties, but it also offers different breakfast or lunch options, such as grilled paninis or fresh salads. Everyone’s sweet tooth will be satisfied with homemade pastries and baked goods from the local LaBonne Bouchee Bakery. In the evenings, local artists perform in a relaxed and familiar atmosphere while guests drink wine and eat appetizers.
The locally owned and independent Coffee House was originally founded in 2003. The location at Historic Downtown St. Charles on 101 N Main Street, St. Charles has been there ever since, and a second location at The Streets of St. Charles on 1650 Beale Street just got opened in 2015.
The local ownership is one factor that makes Picasso’s so unique. The place only exists once and therefore has an exclusive ambiance.
Customers such as Felix Eigel, a student, say that “they like it much better than Starbucks or other large coffee chains.”
He also said that he likes the individual interior of the shop where “one feels very cozy and relaxed.”
The monthly changing wall decoration features pieces of local artists, where the eponymous of the place, Pablo Picasso, is also honored in between by prints of his most famous works hanging on the walls. Dark wooden, comfortable furniture in the customer area invite to pause a hectic day.
All these very creative and affectionate features added together create an unique and individual place, where customers feel taken care of and appreciated.
As the Coffee House states on its website, they “believe strongly in supporting our local economy and foster a positive relationship with the community through support of local charities and arts programs.”
The employees at Picasso’s all blend in the alternative and warm atmosphere of the coffee shop and are all very caring and committed, representing the Coffee House’s mission.
One of the employees working at the Main Street location, Lacey Summer who prepares breakfast and lunch food in the kitchen, said that “it is a great place to work at, and seeing the customers happy with our products is most important.”
Most of the customers visit the place frequently, like Lori Walter. She and her husband visit Picasso’s every time they come down to Main Street and always enjoy it. “The coffee is very good,” she said. “I beats Starbucks any day.”
“Picasso’s uses only the freshest micro-roasted coffees roasted right here in St. Louis.” as stated on the website.
By ensuring that all products are produced in the area, Picasso’s supports regional growth and focuses heavy on sustainability as well.
This approach pays off, since the coffee house receives constantly positive reviews by more satisfied customers on several online review pages.
“It is probably our favorite coffee place and we always enjoy coming here.” Walter said.
